I first learnt about the ABTA (Association of British Turkish Academics) Doctoral Researcher Awards (DRA) in February 2018 while searching for funding opportunities to cover conference attendance costs. I felt very proud knowing that I was 1 of the 15 finalists (across the 3 categories) selected from a pool of over 400 applicants.
4 months have quickly gone by since I defended my PhD on 22nd January 2020. In the days leading up to my viva, I was expectedly nervous but was surprisingly calm on the day. I think knowing that the viva was the final hurdle in the journey to getting the PhD did the trick. My …
